From August 20, 2025, families across Canada will receive their next Canada Child Benefit (CCB) payments. This tax-free monthly payment provided by the CRA helps with the expenses of having children and is a crucial lifeline to many families.
2025-26 Fiscal Year: Increased By 2.7%
For the 2025/26 fiscal year, the CCB has been increased by 2.7% due to inflation. The increase ensures that families receive a bit more cash in hand each month.
How Are Payment Amounts Set?
The calculation for the amount that families will receive takes into account the following factors (prevalent in the Federal Child Benefits):
- Adjusted Family Net Income (AFNI): The lower the household income, the higher the CCB payment is.
- Number of Children: More children mean higher accrued monthly payment.
- Age of the Children: Child benefit is more if the children are below 6 years of age.
- Child Disability Benefit: Additional benefits are made available if any child qualifies for disability allowances.
- Provincial or Territorial Supplements: In the eligible region, the province or territorially offers some top-up benefits. For the 2025–26 period, this is roughly $666.41 per month for a child below six years and $562.33 for children between 6 and 17 years.
Who Qualifies For CCB?
The credo is simple:
- One must live in Canada and be considered a taxpayer in Canada.
- You must be taking care of the child under 18 years.
You or your spouse should qualify as:
- A Canadian citizen
- A permanent resident
- A protected person
- An Indian under the Indian Act
- A valid temporary resident with an 18-month residency.
There is no fixed income cut-off; however, families with higher income may qualify albeit with a reduced monthly amount.
Payment Schedule For 2025
Generally, the CCB is paid monthly on or about the 20th day of each month. Remaining dates for 2025:
- September 19, 2025
- October 20, 2025
- November 20, 2025

This sets finances for the budget planning throughout the whole year.
